For outstanding service in 2006, Chris Stewart, a longtime Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care volunteer, received the Heart of Hospice Patient Care Volunteer of the Year Award. The award from the Missouri Hospice & Palliative Care Association was given in Jefferson City, Mo., at the luncheon for Hospice Advocacy Day on April 4, 2007. In his 13 years as a volunteer, Stewart has been matched with patients young and old, male and female, from every walk of life. He’s also been a dorm buddy for 10 of the 11 years of Camp Carousel, Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care’s weekend camp for grieving families.
